Trip Overview

Trekking after the cultural tours brings in most tourist to Bhutan. Trekking in Bhutan range from an easy 3 days trek to a month long snowman trek which involves crossing 12 high mountain passes and is considered as one of the toughest treks in the world. Trekkers reach as high as 5320 meters with camp sites at over 5100 m. The demand for walking uphill and thin mountain air can prove to be a challenge as your trek in Bhutan and will test your physical and mental fitness. The Treks in Bhutan ranges from following walking trails used by villagers to commute from one village to other and taking ancient trade routes in the high mountains taking you to unsettled areas.

Most of the trek routes and infrastructures are maintained by and directly benefits the village community and farmers living in the far flung areas.

During the entire trek you will be accompanied by a certified trekking guide and other CRUISIN’ TO PARADISE camp crew. Utmost care is taken for the safety of the trekkers and on the cases of medical emergencies the guests shall be airlifted to the nearest medical facilities.

Kindly note that the duration mentioned below is for the actual treks, and does not include the time taken to reach the starting point. This is to provide our guests the flexibility of incorporating additional sightseeing destination or simply to trek in the shortest time possible.

The best trekking time is from March till early November and treks in Bhutan can be broadly put into easy, medium or hard in accordance to the difficulty.

Day 01: Arrive at Paro International Airport.
  • Cultural sightseeing and stroll around the Paro town.
  • Overnight in Paro
  Day 02: Paro (Day hike to Tiger’s Nest. 4 to 5 hrs To and Fro)
  • Later camp at Shana
  • Altitude gain and loss 450m
  • Overnight in Shana Camp.
  Day 03: Shana to Thangthangkha (3575m)
  • Total Distance: 22km. Time:6-8 hrs
  • Altitude gain 685m.
  • Overnight in Camp.
  Day 04: Thangthangkha to Jangothang (4044m)
  • Total Distance: 17km. Time: 4-6 hrs.
  • Altitude gain 469m.
  • Overnight in Camp.
  Day 05: Jangothang (Acclimatize Day)
  • It’s very important hike up to 4890m and drop down 4044m for night. (Standard rule. Trek high and sleep low.)
  Day 06: Jangothang to Lingshi (4010m)
  • Distance: 21 km. Time: 5-6hrs
  • Via Nyile La (Pass 4890m)
  • Altitude gain 845m and Altitude loss 880m.

  Day 07: Lingshi to Shakyapasang (4000m) via Chebisa.
